Generic Name: Ibuprofen Injection 400 mg
Dosage Form: Injectable Solution
Drug Class: Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drug (NSAID)

Indications:

• Management of moderate to severe acute pain (e.g. post-operative pain)
• High fever when oral administration is not possible
• Acute musculoskeletal pain
• Migraine-related pain (as prescribed by physician)

Dosage and Administration:

  • Adults: 200–400 mg every 4–6 hours as a slow IV infusion
  • Children: 5–10 mg/kg body weight every 6–8 hours (as directed by a physician)

Contraindications:

• Known hypersensitivity to ibuprofen, aspirin, or other NSAIDs
• Active gastric or duodenal ulcer
• Severe renal or hepatic impairment
• Severe heart failure
• Active bleeding or coagulation disorders

Warnings and Precautions:

• Use cautiously in elderly patients (increased risk of gastrointestinal bleeding)
• Prolonged use may cause kidney or liver damage
• During pregnancy (especially the third trimester), use only if absolutely necessary
• In asthmatic patients, symptoms may worsen

Drug Interactions:

Anticoagulants (e.g. warfarin): increased risk of bleeding
Diuretics: reduced diuretic effect, increased risk of renal impairment
ACE inhibitors / ARBs: increased risk of kidney failure
Lithium: increased serum lithium levels
Methotrexate: increased methotrexate toxicity

Common Side Effects:

• Nausea, vomiting
• Headache, dizziness
• Elevated liver enzymes
• Pain or inflammation at the injection site
• Gastrointestinal upset (abdominal pain, indigestion)

Serious but Rare Side Effects:

• Severe allergic reactions (anaphylaxis)
• Gastrointestinal bleeding
• Acute renal failure
• Hypertension or edema
• Cardiovascular events (especially with long-term use)

Storage Conditions:

• Store at 15–30°C
• Protect from freezing and direct sunlight
• Keep out of reach of children

Dispensing and Administration:

• For use only by qualified medical personnel
• Avoid concurrent use with other NSAIDs
• If any allergic reaction (rash, hives, breathing difficulty) occurs, stop use immediately and contact a physician
